One of the goals of the Foundation for Family Businesses is to promote this type of company on the labour market. When recruiting new talent, it is vital that family-owned companies are able to compete at a reasonable cost with the big multinationals. This is made more difficult by the fact that big corporations often overshadow family businesses at recruiting fairs and in the media channels relevant to applicants.
Against this backdrop, the Foundation for Family Businesses, some family-firm owners and the Entrepreneurs Club came together to launch the “Family-Business Career Day”. Now held regularly, it is the first recruiting event exclusively for family businesses and takes place at alternating locations.
Since its inception, the Family-Business Career Day has been held under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Economics. Peter Altmaier also acknowledges the importance of this initiative:

Ladies and Gentlemen,
It gives me great pleasure to continue the Ministry’s ongoing sponsorship of the Family-Business Career Day. For over ten years now, this successful event has been matching interested applicants with attractive German family businesses.
Large family-owned enterprises are major contributors to growth and jobs in this country. They represent values such as stability, continuity and sense of responsibility; they are both firmly established in the regions and at the same time successful on international markets. As a result, they are highly attractive employers – and deservedly so.
The Family-Business Career Day offers highly qualified women and men an excellent forum for finding out about pioneering family enterprises and discovering career opportunities. In these times of increasing skilled-worker shortages, it is therefore a clever SME initiative to attract suitable talents.
Once more I wish all applicants and participating companies a successful event and many interesting conversations.
