At the top of the 2018 agenda for family businesses in Germany was the recruitment of specialists and managers in the professions that are relevant for the digital transformation.
The filtration specialist Mann+Hummel in Ludwigsburg hosted Family Business Career Day early in the summer, and toward the end of the year Sennheiser, known around the world for its microphones, filled this role.
“Large family companies especially need software developers, big data specialists, business IT specialists and, as always, engineers,” explained Stefan Klemm of the Entrepreneurs Club, who organises the preselection from over 2,500 applications from ten countries for each event. Around 600 candidates are accredited for each event, and they participate in a total of about 900 job interviews.
The magazine karriere.de referred to the process as “Recruiting in the name of the digital transformation”, and its publisher Dirk von Wiarda visited the event at Mann+Hummel to gather his own impressions.
In its report on the event at Sennheiser, the newspaper Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung emphasised the economic significance of family businesses and their role as employers.
Both Career Days are documented in short videos:

The 23rd Family Business Career Day is already planned, and will take place on 5 July 2019 at TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG in Ditzingen.
