Foundation for Family Businesses distances itself from extremist parties
Munich, 24 November 2025. The association “Die Familienunternehmer” has repositioned itself with regard to the firewall against the AfD party. We make no comment on it, but take it as an opportunity to clearly express our own position once again.
Professor Rainer Kirchdörfer, Member of the Executive Board of the Foundation, has commented in various media as follows:
“We see no reason to change our position on extremist parties such as Die Linke or the AfD.
Our foundation is supported primarily by medium-sized and large family businesses that operate internationally and for which open markets, free trade, the immigration of skilled labour, integration into the NATO security system and the image of Germany abroad are crucial.
We do not give a stage at our events to representatives of the AfD or Die Linke because their values do not for the most part match those of family businesses. The AfD’s agenda would endanger family entrepreneurship in Germany as we know it.
It is evident in different areas that the AfD has no interest whatsoever in informed discussions, which is why the foundation, as a leading sponsor of science and research on the topic of “family businesses”, does not expect to gain any new insights.”
