Prof. Dr. Marietta Auer

Prof. Dr. Marietta Auer is Director of the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory in Frankfurt am Main, Professor of the Foundations of Law at Justus Liebig University in Giessen, and Honorary Professor at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. Previously, from 2013 to 2020, she held the Chair of Civil Law and Legal Philosophy at the University of Giessen. Her research, for which she was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for the year 2022, focuses on issues of private law and the theory of private law.
