Family businesses are of central importance in Germany and the United States. Still, there are significant differences, both in terms of family cultures, as well as in terms of the institutional environment, political clout and the longevity of companies. The historical lomg-term study analyses the differences and similarities in Germany and the USA from the middle of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21th century.
